Probably the most important aspect of generating traffic for your online website, is content. In order to rank high in the search engines, your content must be unique and relevant. This blog will discuss three ways to improve a business' content to rank higher in the search engines.

Content is extremely important for SEO practises and is the reason search began in the first place, according to Lee Odden. It is also a way to distinguish yourself from your competitors and to stand out. The first approach to improve your content is to investigate your target market as you should base your content and language to this audience in order to reach them. Creating persona's could help a business to identify the characteristics and behaviour of its target market. Additionally, identifying their challenges might be useful in order to know what topics to write about, as people will search for solutions to their problems / challenges.

Another measure a company can take to improve its content, is to do a thorough keyword research (to learn more about how to conduct a keyword research, click HERE). It is of a significant importance to tailor your content to your audience, and therefore you need to know what keywords they typed in to get to your website. Identifying the most searched for keywords, allows you to base your content on that. Furthermore, by conducting such a research, you might find useful information about your target market.

A third measure to take could be introducing creative and new ideas / ways to present your content. For example, make use of an inspirational YouTube video or present your information by a self-made game.  In the end, it must be informative and fun to read instead of formal and boring. This will help to keep the attention of the readers / watchers and the content is more likely to be shared by them (Sherman, 2019).

To conclude, content is an extremely important aspect of your SEM practices and requires improvements and updates. With content, it is possible to distinguish yourself from your competitors and should therefore be taken seriously.
